The community of Okanagan College-Salmon Arm is rich with the flavours and textures of a thriving creative community. Firmly rooted to the land, thanks to the ongoing presence of the 13-member bands that make up the Secwepemc First Nations, the Salmon Arm area has become known for its active agricultural community (Grindrod Garlic Festival, Fungi Festival), its dedication to music through well-established events like the Roots and Blues Festival, as well as being a place for summertime water sports and house boating on Shuswap Lake’s 1,000-km of shoreline. From touring art galleries in the daytime, to taking in theatre performances in the evening, there’s always something to learn in Salmon Arm.
